Gigliola Cinquetti returns to music
Many of our youngest readers do not know Gigliola Cinquetti, who in the sixties and seventies was one of the most successful Italian singers (as soon as he won in the same year, 1964, and with the same song, “I am not age”, the Sanremo Festival and the Eurofestival in Copenhagen; he re -seared the festival in 1966 in double execution with Domenico Modugno (“God, as I love you”); Of great commercial success with individuals such as “The black rose” (1967), “Giuseppe in Pennsylvania” (1968), “Those were the days” (cover of Mary Hopkin’s “Those Were the Days”, 1968), “The rain” 1969), to also explore the Italian folk song with the albums “Singing with friends” and “Tonight Ballacio” (1983 and 1984).
At the end of the decade he had left the song to devote himself to journalism, even television, and had never expressed regrets for his singer’s period.
Therefore, the news – published by the “Corriere del Trentino” – that Gigliola Cinquetti is preparing to republish, in a new version, a 1969 hit, precisely “La Rain” (the rain “in Hit Parade), accompanying her with a video, which was shot in Levico Terme, in the province of Trento, is surprising.
The new version of “La Rain” – The song had been written by Daniele Pace, Gianni Argenio, Mario Panzeri and Corrado Conti, with the orchestra arranged by Gianfranco Monaldi, and had ranked sixth at the Sanremo Festival in 1969 – is announced for next September.
