Jake Bugg: “I don’t care if there are phones at concerts”

The English rocker Jake Bugg he goes against the grain of the thinking of many of his colleagues by declaring that he doesn’t care if fans are glued to their smartphones during his concerts. Indeed, he said he was happy if those present in the room filmed his performances on stage.

Speaking to the Wired column hosted by the British newspaper Daily Star, 30-year-old Jake said: “I don’t care if there are phones at concerts.

If people want to film and then watch it again, that’s fine.” But if there’s one thing he doesn’t like, it’s when fans under the stage throw beer at him. “There are people who throw stuff. Sometimes it’s a nice letter, sometimes it’s beer. You never know what may come.”

Jake Bugg – who released his sixth album last month “A Modern Day Distraction” (read the review here) – also revealed that he is a good friend of Mike D of the Beastie Boys explaining that when he is unsure about the choices to make he talks to him for advice. “I’ve known Mike for a long time. If I have any doubts, he will always have some story to help me.”
