Jean-Michel Jarre, a new version for the 40th anniversary of “Zoolook”

On the occasion of the 40th anniversary of its publication, the sixth studio album returns in a remastered version Jean-Michel Jarre “Zoolook”. The album will be available digitally from November 8th and in a limited edition vinyl version from January 10th. The new remastered edition includes the bonus track “Moon Machine”.

“Zoolook” was released in 1984 and combined electronic music with vocal samples captured in 25 different languages ​​manipulated using the Fairlight CMI, one of the first digital synthesizers. In the songs “Ethnicolor” And “Diva” participate Laurie Andersonwhose vocalizations in an imaginary language were recorded at the invitation of Jarre himself. Some of the entries were recorded during his travels, while others are the result of his collaboration with the French ethnologist Xavier Bellanger.

““Zoolook” was an exploration of language, human voices and the connections between culture and technology – he says Jean-Michel Jarre – I wanted to bring together the diverse sounds of humanity, creating a wordless musical language that spoke universally. I’m happy to revisit this project for its 40th anniversary, honoring both its legacy and the listeners who have enjoyed it over the years.”
