“Beautiful bitch” in Sanremo: it is also a matter of rights

Speaking of the question we wrote here, and in particular of the clarifications on the theme provided via Social by Marco Masini, we deepened the theme by addressing it from the “technical” point of view of the rights of the song. Here’s what we learned.

If the song is performed with the original title, it must be considered a simple cover of the version filed in Siae. Only the original authors (in this case the heirs of Giancarlo Bigazzi) could oppose for moral reasons to the modification of the text implemented by interpolating new stanzas. If, on the other hand, you want to deposit the new version, you should obtain the authorization of the original entitled people (authors and publishers), with the filing of a new title (for example: “You are always a nice bitch”) and redistribution of the shares (autorals and editorials) as agreed between the parties. But this does not seem to be the case, given that the declarations go in the sense of a “new interpretation of the original song”.
