Carly Simon has album “Comes in waves” out
Aside from a few live performances and a few guest appearances, Carly Simon has remained relatively silent about her musical activity since the release of her latest album, “Never been gone” year of grace 2009, which contained a selection of acoustic versions of his songs. After all these years, on August 14th the 82-year-old American musician “Comes in waves”his first album of original material since 2008’s release “This kind of love”.
The release of the new album is anticipated by the first single
“Howl”
. The album was written and produced in collaboration with
David
Spencer
and includes one of the rapper and producer’s last recordings
John Forté
passed away last January. Among the guests there are also Simon’s children,
Ben and Sally Taylor
and the historic collaborators
Paul Samwell-Smith
And
Frank Filipetti
.
In a press release,
Carly Simon
said of the single: “‘Howl’ sits in that space between betrayal and forgiveness, where anger must be expressed vocally before it can be released. It’s about releasing frustration to prevent it from building up and leading to resentment. The song begins with anger, but evolves towards forgiveness and addresses any situation where trust has been betrayed.”
