Tunde Adebimpe: a single for the TV on the Radio frontman

Tunde Adebimpethe frontman of TV on the Radiohas made available the new single “Magnetic”, which in addition to being his solo debut and his first release with the new label Sub Pop Records.

The song “Magnetic” will be part of his debut solo album, scheduled for 2025. The single is accompanied by the official video, directed by Adebimpe himself.

The co-founder of Sub Pop, Jonathan Poneman, stated:

Sub Pop Records to date it has in its roster famous artists such as Suki Waterhouse, Father John Misty, Weyes Blood and Beach House. The label, born in the late ’70s as a fanzine and currently based in Seattle, characterized and made grunge known in the ’90s, publishing albums by Nirvana, Soundgarden, Mudhoney. The label is owned, as a minority shareholder, by Warner Music.

Tunde Adebimpe (Babatunde Omoroga Adebimpe born 1975), outside of TV on the Radio, is a musician, actor (Star Wars: Skeleton Crew, Rachel Getting Married, Twisters), animator, director and visual artist (A Warm Weather Ghost, Plague Heroes ).

In addition to his activities with the band he has signed musical collaborations with artists such as Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Massive Attack and Run The Jewels, as well as contributions to “Grand Theft Auto V”, the Sleater Kinney covers album.

Born February 25, 1975 in St. Louis, Missouri, and raised in Lagos, Nigeria, and the United States, Adebimpe studied animation at New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts.

In addition to being a musician, Tunde is also known as a visual artist, creator of graphic novels and director of video clips, carrying out a series of personal and collaborative visual projects.

Adebimpe founded TV on the Radio in 2001 together with producer and musician Dave Sitek. The group has become known for its eclectic style, which combines rock, electronica and soul, and for Adebimpe’s thoughtful lyrics. With TV on the Radio, he has released six albums including Return to Cookie Mountain (2006) e Dear Science (2008).

TV on the Radio celebrates the 20th anniversary of their album, “Desperate Youth, Blood Thirsty Babes” (released in 2004), with a series of sold-out concerts in New York, Los Angeles and London this November and December.
