Alfa: “The red thread” is a success that united everyone
Certain songs, like those “certi amori” sung by Antonello Venditti, don’t end, they make immense turns and then return. Alfa’s last song, “Il filo rosso”, currently second in the Fimi singles ranking, has a history which, in some respects, is a mirror of how music today, without algorithms and playlists, can still be unpredictable. Especially when the song spontaneously enters people’s lives. The piece in question, before being officially released, had already attracted the attention of thousands of fans who, after having fallen in love with the first notes during a spontaneous social live broadcast, insistently asked for its release. The single was born in an original way: Alfa shared his creation in real time, inviting the public to participate in the writing of the lyrics, thus making the song a collective workwith hundreds of people contributing ideas and words, posting videos of performances straight from their bedrooms and recording their own versions of the second verse. “After participating in the Sanremo Festival I feared that everything was becoming ‘too institutional’, so just over a month ago I did a live broadcast where I sang a preview song like I did when I was at the beginning of my journey – says Alfa – I presented the first verse and the chorus. Someone recorded the live broadcast, uploaded it to TikTok and made the piece go viral. It even ended up in the charts, but the song hadn’t been officially released yet and wasn’t even complete…”.
Hence the idea of asking the fans “help” to publish it definitively. And by doing so, the young Genoese singer-songwriter is as if he had truly created that previously metaphorical red thread by uniting girls and boys from all over Italy. “They took this song from my hands, it was beautiful – continues Alfa – an active coworking was created through which anyone could make their contribution. I was struck by some verses that some girls sent me and the one that an up-and-comer, Yari, wrote. I thanked him publicly, I have never had the support of any artist I was a fan of as a kid, which is why I wanted to reward him. All this affection, however, pushed me to close the piece and publish it definitively with a second verse that I wrote on the wave of emotion for all this support”. The initial text leads the signature of Alfa himself and Emanuele Dabbonosinger-songwriter and author already known for his collaboration with Tiziano Ferro. Then there was the mobilization on the web to try to add a second verse, the final draft of which he collaborated on Thomas Cassissacomedian, actor and content creator from Genoa.
The production is by Celo and Pietro Posani. Artist First published it. “It’s a song that was liked even before going out, as if to tell you that ‘you’re already traveling from the station, even if you haven’t boarded the train yet’ – says Dabbono – ithe piece went viral because a live fragment was reshared, reposted, covered and made an incredible rounds. When the piece was officially released, Andrea (Alfa, ed.) called me to thank me, it was a noble gesture, very rare in this environment. It hit me. Our collaboration will continue and I am really happy that everything started from a special song like ‘Il filo rosso’”. The video accompanying the song is also going strong: there are many images of kisses, hugs and greetings captured in various stations including those of Genoa and Milan. After a tour of the arenas and a summer tour, on November 8th Alfa will hold its first European concert in London at Dingwalls, then it will leave Rome again on “I don’t know who created the world but I know he was in love tour”the tour in Italian arenas which will subsequently touch the cities of Naples, Bari and Milan. And he will continue to weave that lucky thread.
