Tricarico is once again an exception

In a panorama in which many artists avoid openly declaring that they have presented – without success – a song at the Sanremo Festival, Francesco Tricarico chooses the opposite path: transparency. With a dry and amused statement, he announces the release of “Sorridiamo”, the song he had proposed to participate in the 2026 edition and which was not selected.

The song, described as “ironic with sparkling bitterness”, is available from today on digital platforms, published by Best Sound and produced by Franco Godi. A short teaser of the video clip also appeared on the artist’s social channels, signed by the illustrator Diego Zucchi, historical collaborator of Bruno Bozzetto. Tricarico recounts the origin of the piece with simplicity: one very early morning, cappuccino and croissants for the children, a tune hummed on the stairs of the house. From that moment, the idea of an invitation to smile as a consolatory gesture, almost a small daily philosophy: “He who smiles lives longer”, repeats the refrain. According to a little legend, when Carlo Conti announced the thirty artists in the competition and his name did not appear, Tricarico would have simply smiled, repeating the refrain: “Whoever wins laughs, whoever loses laughs…”. Whether it is true or not, the impression remains of an artist who has no need to hide anything and who has transformed a failed selection into an opportunity to share lightly a new song.
