The first trailer for “Epic: Elvis Presley in concert” is out

The first trailer for “Epic: Elvis Presley in concert”, Baz Luhrmann’s new film dedicated to Elvis Presley, is online. The project, which will arrive in theaters in 2026, combines previously unpublished images of the residence of Elvis in Las Vegas featuring 16mm footage from “Elvis on Tour” and 8mm footage from the Graceland archives. The trailer opens to the tune of “Also sprach Zarathustra” by Richard Strauss and shows Elvis shortly before a concertwhile playing with a ring and tapping his foot. The writing appears on the screen “In 1969 Elvis returned to the stage for a legendary residency in Las Vegas,” followed by a reminder of decades of rumors about lost footage that had finally been found. In the video Elvis is heard saying: “There’s been a lot written and a lot said, but never from my side of the story”, phrase that suggests the film’s intent to offer a story from his point of view, accompanied by period images and live performances. Among these, the singer performs “The Battle Hymn of the Republic” juxtaposed with old concert footage.

This new film is not an isolated operation: Luhrmann had already directed “Elvis” in 2022, a successful biopic that traced the life and career of the singer. “Epic: Elvis Presley in concert” was born precisely from that work: during the making of the 2022 film, the director and editor found dozens of boxes containing unreleased filmsmaterial that represented a heritage too important to be ignored. Hence the idea of a second project, in the form of a concert documentary. The film debuted in September 2025 at the Toronto International Film Festival and will be screened exclusively in IMAX format from February 20, 2026, before the general release in theaters on February 27. For Elvis enthusiasts and others, “Epic Elvis Presley in concert” offers itself as a unique opportunity to rediscover the artist in action, thanks to rare footage and restored live performances, offering a direct and intense perspective on a timeless myth.
