The Greatest Drummers of All Time, According to Consequence

The American magazine Consequence presented Drum Week, a week of insights, lists and special content dedicated to the world of drums. For the occasion, the magazine’s editorial staff drew up a ranking of the 100 best drummers of all time.

For the task, Consequence enlisted the help of “60 of our favorite musicians from a wide range of genres, eras, and styles,” according to the site. Those who helped out with the list include Josh Freese, Mike Portnoy, Dale Crover, and more.

The result is “a roundup of the best percussionists in history.” The qualities taken into consideration to establish the ranking were: natural ability, innovation and swagger. Also taken into consideration, it says, were their respective cultural contributions.
