The Eurovision Song Contest tour postponed to a later date
“The EBU regrets that we have made the difficult decision to postpone the Eurovision Song Contest Live Tour 2026. We encountered unforeseen challenges which, despite the best efforts of our team, producers and promoters, we were unable to resolve. “To the thousands of fans who purchased tickets, thank you, and we offer our sincere apologies for any inconvenience caused”: with these words the first Eurovision Song tour has been postponed to a later date Contest, which was supposed to celebrate the 70th anniversary of the event, with 10 artists from the 2026 edition for 10 cities, starting in London on 15 June. The first names announced were those of Alessandra (fifth place – Norway 2023), Guy Sebastian (fifth place – Australia 2015), Helena Paparizou (winner – Greece 2005, third place 2001), Katrina (winner – United Kingdom 1997), Lordi (winners – Finland 2006) and Verka Serduchka (runner-up – Ukraine 2007).
A date was scheduled in Milan, at the Santa Giulia Arena, on 19 June: although the EBU communication speaks of “postponement”, the Italian date appears to have been canceled on the website of the Italian promoter Vivo Concerti, where it is specified that “Ticket holders will be entitled to a refund, which will be issued and processed at the point of sale/site where the ticket was purchased” – which according to the EBU communication should apply to all concerts.
The decision and communication of the postponement of the tour dates back to 13/2, as reported on the Vivo Concerti website – but unlike the launch, no press release or announcement on social media about the event was made.
The decision to organize the first tour of the event was made in a very complex period for the Eurovision Song Contest, due to the controversy over Israel’s participation despite the conflict in Gaza which led several countries to withdraw from the event. In Italy, artists competing in Sanremo such as Levante have declared that they do not wish to possibly take part in the event, which this year will take place in Austria, the winner country in 2025. The Italian participant, as is known, is decreed by the Sanremo Festival and this situation has pushed RAI to take into consideration preventive feedback from the competing singers.
