So Bonnie Tyler is back in the charts (but only for one day)
Some songs don't end, they make immense turns and then return. One way or another. This is what happened in the last twenty-four hours at “Total eclipse of the heart“, the song that catapulted Bonnie Tyler to the top of the world charts in 1983, becoming one of the most iconic hits of the '80s. “Total eclipse of the heart”, written by Jim Steinman, was originally intended to be performed by Meat Loaf, of which Steinman was right-hand man at the time. The two, however, did not agree and the author decided to entrust the song to the Welsh singer, still looking for consecration after the success of 1977 with “It's a heartache”. It was a triumph: the single, taken from the album “Faster than the speed of night”, reached the top of the charts in the United States and the United Kingdom, selling approximately 60 thousand copies per day at its peak. In all, copies sold exceeded 5 million Inserted in the soundtracks of films, TV series and video games, which increased its popularity, “Total eclipse of the heart” ended up swallowing up the career of Bonnie Tyler herself, who over the years has not been able to produce a single capable of equaling – or even come close to – the results of the 1983 hit.
In the .2013thirty years after her success, Bonnie Tyler was also chosen by the United Kingdom as the country's ambassador toEurovision Song Contest, with “Believe me”. It was a flop: the diva placed nineteenth out of twenty-six finalists. But she did not give in to oblivion.
