Sepultura’s isn’t a real farewell tour (maybe)
Although i Burial are currently on their farewell world tour, “Celebrating Life Through Death”, the guitarist Andreas Kisser hinted that the word “end” may not be as final as it seems. In a recent interview, the musician clarified that, although a long stop is necessary, the door for future live appearances is not completely closed.
Kisser explained that, at the moment, it is not a priority determine whether this withdrawal will be eternal or whether there will be a return in the future. The band’s main goal is to conclude the current cycle, take the necessary time to rest and dedicate themselves to new creative stimuli. “Sepultura will not die” declared the guitarist, citing the example of Motorhead: a band that continues to be “alive” and influential in the hearts of fans even if they no longer grace the stages. For Kisser, it is essential to unplug to explore different artistic territories.
I don’t rule anything out. It is irrelevant to say now whether the retreat is forever or whether we will return one day, the important thing is that we stop now. We need to rest and take our time to do other things. Sepultura will not die. Look at Motörhead, they are more alive now that… unfortunately they are no longer on tour but they will be with us forever. So now we will explore new things and territories and then deal with the future when the time comes.
In addition to his activities with the band, Kisser has confirmed that he has no intention of abandoning the world of music. He is already evaluating different avenues, ranging from a possible solo album to unreleased collaborations, up to forays into other art forms such as painting. His desire is to experiment with something new, avoiding slavishly replicating what has already been done in decades of career with Sepultura.
To properly celebrate these 40 years of history, the band is meticulously documenting the current tour. From the drummer’s entrance Greyson Nekrutman in early 2024, every concert is recorded. The intention is to release a massive live collection consisting of 40 songs recorded in 40 different citiescapturing the energy and most meaningful moments of this latest series of shows.
Sepultura’s journey won’t end anytime soon: the band intends to hit as many territories as possible, including the big summer festivals of 2026. The final show is scheduled for the end of 2026 in Brazil, where the group wants to organize a big party with friends and special guests.
As for Italy, fans will have two opportunities to greet the band: on 9 June 2026 at the Circolo Magnolia in Segrate (MI), and on 10 June 2026 at the Eur Social Park in Rome. On both dates, Sepultura will be accompanied by Evil Invaders and Torture Squad.
