Sanremo 2025, early evening: better TV than music

The first evening of the Sanremo Festival spanned smoothly and with a great rhythm: a sequence of songs without pauses, which closed at 1 and 20, even in advance of the ladder. The big news compared to the Carlo Conti Festival compared to the Amadeus one is more television than musical: less frills, a cleaner and more effective direction, not very outline. But the level of the songs of this edition is generally confirmed low, confirming the impressions we had had to listen and tests. Here the top 5 decreed by the press: Bruori, Lucio Corsi, Cristicchi, Achille Lauro, Giorgia

Top and flop

Giorgia and Olly are confirmed among the favorite songs, among our favorites we point out Brunori Sas, Lucio Corsi and Joan Thiele – with class proposals that differ from the dichotomy ballad vs. tip case. Rose Villain (song similar to that of last year, but excellent performance and scenic presence) and Shablo, with its hip-hop old school that also makes it well on TV. Bad Tony Effe in Califano version, but also Rkomi a little out of focus.

Jovanotti’s show

Special mention currently spectacular with Jovanotti, a special guest who performed with the Rockin ‘1000 located outside the Ariston Theater: Lorenzo entered the road to the theater singing a medley of songs, singing the audience, then dialogue with Carlo Conti and with Gianmarco Tamberi and finally performing piano and voice with Dardust. An imperfect performance vocally, but with a strong television impact.

The Kolors – “You with who you make love”: 5

A catchphrase between “Italodisco” and Raffaella Carrà: the Kolors return with a consolidated format that will probably work very well on the radio. Here leaves perplexed.

Francesca Michielin – “Mud in Paradise”: 6

A song-up song interpreted with intensity: better than when we listened to it the first time. But among the many ballads of this edition is lost a little (also for the location in the final part of the lineup). To be listened to.

Rocco Hunt – “A thousand votes again”: 6

He makes himself, rags and sings between Italian and Neapolitan, telling his stora, between road and neighborhood. The song turns but is not new.

Joan Thiele – “Eco”: 8

In a strictly musical sense, it is the most beautiful song of this festival, for sound choices and arrangement. Performance perhaps a little improveable, but it will grow.

Sarah Toscano – “Amarcord”: 5
A song, interpreted quite well, which, however, musically has an easy electronic, without ideas that amaze.

Bresh – “The Giro del Crab”: 7
A ballad with a nice refrain that smells of salt. A text, between reality and dreams, in which it is told open -hearted.

Fedez – “beat”: 5
“Inside my eyes, War of the worlds”. With lenses that, in the eyes, give a “monster” effect presents a song on depression. It takes everything he can, plays almost everything about performance. The song is built in an angular way, and not entirely on fire.

Lucio Corsi – “I wanted to be a tough”: 8
It starts on the piano, then take the stage with the guitar. He conquers the listener with delicacy and poetry, reminding us of the wonder of being “normal”, he who is an alien dreamer.

Clara – “fever”: 5
He exploits the direction very well, plays with the cameras and with the public, he knows how to be on stage, but the song does not stand out so deeply.

Modà – “I don’t forget you”: 5
A song, played, to Modà: buckets of romanticism slightly frivolous in pop-rock sauce, with Kekko’s voice to act as a glue.

Bruori Sas – “The tree of walnuts”: 8

In smoking, but with the Gretsch guitar in hand: it is the representation of Bruori, elegant but rooted in a different musical world. Class and writing, one of our favorites.

Serena Brancale – “Anema and Core”: 5

A fun piece, who warms the audience, she is good at capturing the eye, but the song, beyond the movement, does not reach any peak.

Tony Effe – “Damme ‘na hand”: 4

The trapper of the controversy, very elegant, with all the covered tattoos, in a Califano version. Artificial intelligence has nothing to do with it. One of the most surreal moments of the Festival.

Massimo Ranieri – “In his hands a heart”: 6

What do you mean to Massimo Ranieri? Class and still class. The song, even if he brings the signatures of Nek and Tiziano Ferro, is not memorable, but his performance makes it a classic. Probably in a festival of a few years ago the victory would have been played.

Shablo feat. Guè, Joshua & Tormento – “My word”: 7

We make a petition to ensure that Gué, one of the most important rappers in Italy, is no longer erroneously called “gé”. The piece with its black shades (Shablo is in console, his travel companions rapano) leaves beautiful vibrations.

Elodie – “Forget about 7”: 6

The performance is there, she is expressive, true and powerful, but the song does not completely convince.

Olly – “Balorda nostalgia”: 8
Ballatona to sing at the top of their lungs. It has the strength and skills to go all the way. He hears the Adosse piece, he wrote it, and transmits that emotion without barriers.

Rose Villain – “outlaw”: 7

Total performance: vocal, physical, outfit and attitude. You eat the stage. Of course, the song recalls “Click boom”, but it is also true that this is his style. It stands out and will continue to do so for the duration of the Festival.

Willie Peyote – “Thanks but no thanks”: 6
Song full of rhythm that plays on commonplaces and conservatism. A more cheerful, but not for this corrosive version. He has always made his own without distorting himself. The choristers give a nice black touch to the song.

Giorgia – “The cure for me”: 8

Compared to the tests he lets himself go and the song turns on, with the voice that gives vigor and intensity to a performance that pierces. And it is not yet at its best of its potential because the first test is always poisonous. Do you.

Achille Lauro – “Young unconscious”: 7

A laurel in “serious” version has a piece with a retro, songwriter flavor, which tells souls on the margins. He interprets him well, with transport and strength. The technique is not his strong, but his way of singing dirty works works, and how.

Marcella Bella – “Diamond leather”: 5

The sexy ballet is a moment between trash, camp and cringe: you choose. A technopop that is summarized in the verse “My biggest fan is me”.

Simone Cristicchi – “When you are small”: 7

He is visibly excited, the performance is imperfect in the good sense. Intense, measured interpretation, arches to underline the story of a parent who ages. Aims at the critical prize, he gets notic because he is different from everything else. Everything in the right place, perhaps too much: its value and its limit is that it is more a club song Tenco than from the festival.

Coma_cose – “Tested”: 5

A didactic performance. If you have not understood it, speak of hearts: present in the text, on stage, in the gestures. It is a catchphrase that we will not get rid of. But chuckle “flames in the eyes”.

Irama – “slowly”: 5

Irama tries again, with one of his intense ballads, and exhibits a rhythmic progression that tries to remember “Fix You” of the Coldplay (obviously unreachable). Enter with oversized coat that takes away to show the biceps: one of the many ballads, a song that makes the previous participations regret Irama.

Noemi – “If you fall in love with you”: 6
A piece at Noemi, without great surprises even if there is Mahmood’s hand, Blanco and Michelangelo. She interprets him with determination and strength, but has the flavor of the already heard.

Rkomi – “The rhythm of things”: 5

A well -written song at a content level, with a distorted text, but that does not put the wings. Rkomi is a little songwriter, a little rocker, he does not completely understand his identity.

Francesco Gabbani – “Long live life”: 7

He had not convinced us to listen, on stage is another thing, also thanks to the scenic presence of Gabbani. Which always starts from outsider, but then … the ballad is classic, well written and well interpreted.

Gaia – “I call you call you”: 5

A body of dance, a catchphrase in the true sense of the word, with the repetition of the refrain indefinitely. It could be Eurovision, it could be the summer, instead it is February and we are at the Festival. It has the not simple task of opening the dances (in the true sense of the word), but the song is what it is.
