Sanremo 2024, Amadeus: “Why I said yes to Geolier”
Tonight’s co-host, Friday 9 February, will be Lorella Cuccarini, present at the table in the press room. She opens the press conference with Giovanni Toti, president of the Liguria Region, with the ritual compliments and greetings, and gives Amadeus a parchment with the honorary citizenship of the Region.
This evening the press room, radio jury and televoting will vote, and the winner of the covers evening will be announced; guests include the motorcyclist Checco Bagnaia, Margherita Buy, Elena Sofia Ricci, Arisa from the stage in Piazza Colombo and Gigi D’Agostino from the Costa Concordia.
Lorella Cuccarini:
“There is always a lot of emotion when returning to this stage after the first time in 1993 with Pippo Baudo – the very first one actually dates back to 1987 – but age helps to manage it”.
Lorella Cuccarini:
“When Amadeus called me I felt sincere emotion, for the motivation with which he explained his choice to me: friendship”.
Lorella Cuccarini:
“Today’s youth is particularly fragile, also due to the difficult Covid period. It is up to us parents to listen to our children even when they don’t speak to us, also interpreting their silences.”
Lorella Cuccarini:
“I have been to Sanremo in many different roles: for me it is already a pleasure or an honor to just be there, I have no ambition to experiment with other roles”.
Lorella Cuccarini:
“This evening there will be a celebration of a part of my history, and inevitably ‘The night flies’ cannot be missed”.
Amadeus:
“Of course I would like to manage a RAI radio station, but to do this job you have to dedicate yourself full time; so I couldn’t do anything else, which I want to do instead.”
Lorella Cuccarini:
“My friendship with Amadeus is long-standing, we also shared personal moments that bonded us, in those six months in the theater with ‘Grease’”.
Amadeus:
“I hoped for a greater presence of spectators at a younger age, which is the consequence of the choice of the competing artists. It wasn’t a choice aimed at lowering the age of the audience.”
Amadeus:
“My first thought, since the first edition, has always been about the music”.
Amadeus:
“I changed the rules, regarding songs in dialect, because Geolier’s song convinced me. I would have done it even if it had been the case of a song in a different dialect.”
