Rome, “Marathon Beatles” dedicated to Ernesto Assante
It is a (beautiful) idea of Gino Castaldo: a full listening marathon of the Beatles’ work. From 14.00 to 22.00 on 5 October, at the Auditorium Parco della Musica in Rome, for 8 hours all the 211 songs of the band will be reproduced in chronological order, from the first single “Love Me Do” up to “The End”, which closes the album “Abbey Road”.
A sort of collective ritual, free and open to the public, which will be able to enter and exit freely during the day. During the marathon, conducted and edited by Gino Castaldo, some guests will intervene, who will offer reflections, anecdotes and reading keys to enrich the experience.
October 5 is a fundamental date in the history of pop culture: on that day of 1962 “Love Me Do”, the first single of the Beatles, and “Agent 007 – License to kill”, the first film of the James Bond saga, came out simultaneously. A double debut that would have placed England in the center of the world cultural scene.
The event will be dedicated to Ernesto Assante, journalist and music critic, passionate connoisseur of the Beatlesian universe. As Gino Castaldo recalls:
“On October 5, 2012 with Ernesto and a group of rough and wonderful fans we went to Liverpool in Torpedone, like the Beatles of ‘Magical Mystery Tour’, to celebrate the 50 years of ‘Love Me Do'”.
The initiative is produced by the Music Foundation for Rome.
