Elton John transforms his pins into jewelry
In a short documentary entitled “Touched by Gold”, published yesterday by World Gold Council, Elton John talks about his love for gold and his frequent use in stage costumes. In the stage costumes, but not only: Sir Elton has also transformed its bones into golden jewels.
“When they removed the pins, first the left one and then the right one, I asked my surgeon if I could keep themwhich rather surprised him, “said the pop icon in an exclusive interview provided to” US Weekly “, then adding that he had given to Designer Theo Fennell The artistic freedom to do “what he wanted”. Fennell then explained the process of realizing the jewelry: the drying conferred the bones a porous consistency, similar to the pumice stone, which allowed to paint them with acetate and then polished them.
“My surgeon said I had the worst knees that he had ever operated,” Elton confesses, which then shows the plated gold necklace with a hole in the center. “That hole was actually in my patella. It looks like an ancient Egyptian artifact.” To complete the piece there is the engraving of a Latin phrase, translatable into “I will not bow anymore to any man“.
The left knee bone has instead been transformed into one pin. “Honestly, I think these are timeless pieces that will last for centuries,” added the pop star. “Gold is timeless. It is a constant reminder of how beautiful things can be.”
John has recently returned to the big screen with “Spinal Tap II: The End Continues”, the sequel to the famous 1984 film distributed in the room on September 12, together with Paul McCartney and artists of the caliber of Garth Brooks, Questlove, Trisha Yearwood, Chad Smith and Lars Ulrich.
