Rockol Awards: Pacifico receives the “CartaCanta 2025” award

The book “Winning or losing”, written by Pacifico with Ornella Vanoni, published by La Nave di Teseo, won the CartaCanta 2025 Award, which was awarded to him on Thursday 29 January during the Rockol Awards evening.

This is the motivation:

Ornella Vanoni’s life has been told several times, by newspapers and magazines, and in bookstores by herself in the form of an autobiography. The special merit of this work is the literary style of Pacifico, who confirms himself (as he had already made clear in his two previous books) as an excellent writer, just as we already knew him to be an excellent author and songwriter. Regardless of the precise and affectionate personal and sentimental portrait they draw of Ornella Vanoni, these pages deserve to be read precisely for the quality of the writing.

The CartaCanta Prize, awarded by the Ar.Ca. Cultural Association, was created in 2020 by Franco Zanetti, who chairs it. The Ar.Ca Cultural Association, which since its foundation has collected and catalogued, in its headquarters in Brescia, volumes dealing with the history and criticism of popular music, has established this award for the best book on musical topics:. Biographies and autobiographies, critical essays and historical accounts are taken into consideration, but also fictional works set in the world of music or written by musicians, provided they are by Italian authors and regularly published and distributed in Italy. The Award evaluation commission is made up of Enrico Casarini (“Sorrisi e Canzoni”), Marta Blumi Tripodi (MusicBiz di Rockol) and John Vignola (Rai Radio Uno). Previous winners of the Prize were Carlo Boccadoro with “Bach/Prince, parallel lives” (Einaudi); Marco Ongaro with “Serge Gainsbourg’s Sense of Words” (Caissa Italia); Francesco Donadio with “Freewheelin’ in Rome” (Arcana Edizioni); Daniele Bresciani with Gino Paoli with “What I will do when I grow up (Bompiani).
