Rockol Awards: special “best artist” award to Joan Thiele

On the evening of the Rockol Awards 2025, the Rockol editorial team awarded Joan Thiele with The Rockol Special Award Best Artist 2025, for his ability to be one of the most authoritative and original voices on the contemporary scene. The award was presented on the stage of Santeria in Milan by Gianni Sibilla of Rockol, with this motivation:

Through elegance, vision and profound artistic coherence, Joan Thiele has built a personal path over the years capable of uniting music, cinematic imagery and emotional research. Multifaceted author, songwriter and producer, with an international outlook and a sensitivity deeply rooted in Italian tradition, Joan has been able to transform the song into a narrative space, in which sound, image and body constantly dialogue. His work moves between r&b, soul, jazz, rock and authorial suggestions, with a rare attention to detail and the performative dimension, which when performed takes the form of a real story in images.
His latest album, “Joanita” (February 2025), represents the point of arrival – and at the same time restart – of this journey: a layered and intense album, the first entirely in Italian, which transforms emotions, memories and fragility into musical scenes with a strong structure.
For her ability to combine writing, vision and performance, to give shape to a mature and recognizable musical language and to establish herself as one of the most authoritative and original voices on the contemporary scene, Rockol awards Joan Thiele the special prize “Best Artist 2025”.
