Joan Thiele arrives at her second album “Joanita” after an artistic journey that has seen her move naturally between the international and Italian scene. The artist builds a constantly evolving writingcollaborating with names such as Mace, Venerus, Nitro, M¥ss Keta and Elodie. With a series of conceptual projects collected in “Acts”, Joan Thiele refines a personal and cinematic poetics. Thanks to “Joanita” (our review here), the first work entirely in Italian, anticipated by the participation in the competition with the song “Eco” at Sanremo 2025, where in the evening of the covers she duets with Frah Quintale singing the song “Che cosa c’è” by Gino Paoli, consolidates its identity as one of the most refined and recognizable voices of the new Italian songwriting. During 2025 the musician brings the songs of “Joanita” to Italian stages, accompanying the album on a long live journey, and intertwines her path with that of other artists on the scene.
There motivation Rockol official for the awarding of the prize is as follows:
Through elegance, vision and profound artistic coherence, Joan Thiele has built a personal path over the years capable of uniting music, cinematic imagery and emotional research. Multifaceted author, songwriter and producer, with an international outlook and a sensitivity deeply rooted in Italian tradition, Joan has been able to transform the song into a narrative space, in which sound, image and body constantly dialogue. His work moves between r&b, soul, jazz, rock and authorial suggestions, with a rare attention to detail and the performative dimension, which when performed takes the form of a real story in images.
His latest album, “Joanita” (February 2025), represents the point of arrival – and at the same time restart – of this journey: a layered and intense album, the first entirely in Italian, which transforms emotions, memories and fragility into musical scenes with a strong structure.
For her ability to combine writing, vision and performance, to give shape to a mature and recognizable musical language and to establish herself as one of the most authoritative and original voices on the contemporary scene, Rockol awards Joan Thiele the special prize “Best Artist 2025”.
