Rachele Bastreghi rereads “Metropolitan Crisis” by Giuni Russo
In homage to Giuni Russo, who passed away on September 14, 2024, Rachele Bastreghi announces the release of her solo exhibition for BMG version of “Metropolitan Crisis”a song originally included in the 1981 album by the Palermo musician “Energie” and born from the collaboration with Franco Battiato. The cover by Bastreghi, known to most as the singer, composer and female soul of Baustelle, will be available from next September 13th accompanied by a cover created by the cartoonist and illustrator Alessandro Baronciani.
“Giuni Russo’s voice has always overwhelmed and inspired me. I just let myself be carried away by a passionate gratitude towards a great artist”, explained Rachele Bastreghi, who released her first solo album, “Psychodonna” in 2021 (here the interview and here the review):
“‘Crisi metropolitana’ was already present in the playlist of songs I listened to during the production phase of my album ‘Psychodonna’, with the idea of making my own version. I took up the song again on the eve of the new concert tour to include it in the setlist and finally record it. In the studio with Mario Conte we tried to reread the song, letting ourselves be guided by a very catchy rhythm, maintaining its energy and underlining its more punk aspectswith the enthusiasm that such an important interpretation deserves. I sang and I felt light. Enjoy listening”.
Furthermore, on September 13th the tour “A Day as a Psychodonna – Designed Concert“, a show born from the songs of “Psychodonna”, which Rachele Bastreghi began to bring to the stage already in 2021 (here is our story of the concert at Villa Arconati), and from the drawings of Alessandro Baronciani.
