Pulp in concert play a new song, “Spike Island”

Fresh from a tour that last June saw them also stop in Italy for a concert at the Medimex in Taranto, last September 8th Pulp kicked off their new North American tour. During their performance on the stage of the Aragon Ballroom in Chicago, which was also their first concert Jarvis Cocker and partners in the United States since 2012, the British band performed a new song titled “Spike Island”.

Introducing the song, whose title takes its name from the island in Cheshire where in 1990 the Stone Roses held a historic concert that inspired the 2012 film of the same name by Mat Whitecross, Cocker said on stage: “What should I say? You’ll have to make up your own mind. It’s called ‘Spike Island’ and it goes something like this…”.

Since they reunited, Pulp have previewed several unreleased songs on stageincluding “A sunset”, “Hymn of the North” and “Background noise”. There has yet to be any official confirmation that the band is ready to record new material, but – as reported by “Loudersound” – Jarvis Cocker told a fan in East London that the band is “back in the studio”.
