Pino Daniele: in Naples a plaque dedicated to “Napule è”
To remember the exact place where Pino Daniele, just eighteen, began to compose the first verses of “Napule è”, a plaque for the song has been confirmed in Naples. The affixing of a commemorative plaque dedicated to the famous song was unanimously decided by the city council of Naples, on the proposal of the deputy mayor and councilor for urban planning with responsibility for toponymy, Laura Lieto.
The location of the plaque will be in via Partenope, on the breakwater wall known as the “Bourbon wall”, a symbolic place of great historical-artistic value. In that point, in fact, Pino Daniele, at the age of 18, composed the first verses of “Napule è”. The exact location was identified on the city map thanks to the singer-songwriter’s biography, written by his son Alessandro.
Regarding the initiative aimed at paying homage to one of the city’s greatest artists, Pino Daniele, from Palazzo San Giacomo, seat of the Municipality of Naples, it was commented: “‘Napule è’ is much more than a song, it is an identity anthem that tells the soul of Naples and the Neapolitans”. As reported by ANSA, it was added: “With this initiative, the city pays homage to Pino Daniele and his music, cultural heritage and universal symbol of Neapolitanness.”
