Aphex Twin releases two new songs: on the cover, him in Sicily
“Zahl am1 live track 1” And “Zahl am1 live track 1c f760m1 unfinshd“are the titles of the two new songs published surprisingly by Aphex Twin in the last few hours. The pieces, which appear to be two alternative versions of the same song, were made available last November 27 on the musician’s SoundCloud account, whose page responds to the username “user18081971″.
The publication is accompanied by a cover featuring an image a photo of the artist, born Richard D. James, in Italy with his partner. “I have received many requests for this piece from a few years ago,” reads the description “Zahl am1 live track 1c f760m1 unfinshd”. He continues: “In Italy, photos with my love in Sicily recently. I need sunshine, in the UK it rains non-stop. Mixed on the Zähl, I think there are better mixes – I’ll upload them if I find them.”
The two new shared tracks follow the 2024 release of the compilation titled “From The Merch Desk (2016-2023)“, featuring all the music released over eight years of vinyl releases that the legendary producer and DJ had previously only made available at the merchandise stand during his live shows. The project followed the expanded edition of his 1994 album “Selected Ambient Works II“, released in October of the same year to celebrate its 30th anniversary. Aphex Twin hasn’t released a proper studio album since 2014, when the Grammy winner “Syro”.
