Neil Young, another "lost album" coming out in February

Neil Young, another “lost album” coming out in February

Recorded in 1977, it also has some resemblance to the fourth CD of the “Archives Vol III” box released last year, but it’s not quite the same.

The versions of ‘Lost in Space’, ‘Captain Kennedy’ and ‘The Old Homestead’ are the ones that ended up on “Hawks and Doves” in 1980, while ‘Sail Away’, ‘Goin’ Back’, ‘Human Highway’, ‘It Might Have Been’ and ‘Pocohontas’ are those of “Archives Vol III”. ‘Field of Opportunity’ and ‘Dance Dance Dance’ are slightly different from those of “Archives Vol III”, because it is not NIColette Larson on backing vocals but Neil Young himself. Nel Young underlines that what will be released in “Oceanside countryside” are the original mixes made immediately after the recordings.
Side A, “Oceanside”, was recorded in Florida and Malibu with Neil Young playing (almost) all the instruments. “Countryside”, the B-side, contains songs recorded in Nashville with Ben Keith, Joe Osborn and a few others.
“Oceanside countryside” will not be released on CD, but only on vinyl in the AOS (Analog Original Series), mastered by Chris Bellman, on February 14, 2025, distributed by Reprise Records. A clear vinyl version will also be available for purchase.
