Sanremo 2026: Morgan will not be on stage with Chiello

Morgan: I don’t need Sanremo, it’s Sanremo that needs me

Following the announcement that Morgan will not be present on stage with Chiello on Friday 27 February, during the evening of the 76th Sanremo Festival dedicated to covers and duets, the Bluvertigo musician shared some stories and a post on his Instagram profile to respond to the way in which the news about it was reported.

“As Battiato always told me: ‘My dear, the absence is noticed much more than the presence’”, we read in a post shared this afternoon, February 21, by Marco Castoldi, aka Morgan. The reference to Franco Battiato is accompanied by another message, which reads: “I don’t need Sanremo, it’s Sanremo that needs me”. Meanwhile, as a story, Morgan shared another writing that reports the following:

“I would invite journalists not to engage in media persecution and delegitimization with titles such as ‘Morgan off the Sanremo stage’, which would allude to an expulsion and not to a voluntary action. And titles such as ‘Morgan leaves Chiello alone’, because they do not take into account his agreement. I invite you to be fair by reassuring yourself that you will not lose clicks if there is no controversy, because the public is exhausted of misinformation and if is respected pays you back. It is necessary to alter reality to gain interest”.

Already yesterday, again in a story on Instagram, Morgan had explained: “For those who did not understand the decision not to appear on the Sanremo stage: after having done the rehearsals it was clear that it was not good for the boy. Supporting an artist means putting him on stage and enhancing him, not overshadowing him. And I don’t need to appear at all costs, that stage is to demonstrate his talent. The comparison penalized him, he himself was the first to notice it and appreciated my gesture”.

Chiello, who already went to the Ariston last year as a guest of Rose Villain to re-read “Fiori rosa fiore di pesco” by Lucio Battisti, this year is competing in Sanremo with the song “Ti Penso semper” and in the cover evening he will bring “I fell in love with you” by Luigi Tenco, accompanied by Saverio Cigarini on the piano.

For Morgan, Chiello’s participation as a guest would have marked his return to Sanremo six years after the “Bugo case”.
