Mark Zuckerberg and the rapper T-Pain teamed up to record a rock version of a classic hip-hop song: “Get Low” by Lil’ Jon & The East Side Boyz.

The song, originally recorded by Atlanta rap duo Ying Yang Twins, was a track on Lil Jon & the East Side Boyz’s “Kings of Crunk” album . As a single it was released on January 20, 2003 followed 20 days later by an official video.

The reason why Mark Zuckerberg, co-founder of Facebook and Meta, decided to do this operation is very romantic.

First of all, Zuckerberg and T-Pain revisited Lil’ Jon’s song with a more acoustic, guitar-based arrangement. T-Pain has, as usual, used autotune, which he has done over the years, for the occasion even Zuckerberg improved his voice through this effect.

Zuckerberg, with a post (coincidentally) on Instagram announced the song, jokingly giving the collaboration a name: gli “Z-Pain”.

Despite the song’s rather scurrilous lyrics, the Facebook boss explained that he recorded its version as an anniversary gift for his wife Priscilla.

Sharing an old photo from the couple’s first dates, he explains: “Get Low” was playing when I first met Priscilla at a college party, so every year we listen to it on our anniversary. This year I worked with T-Pain on our version of this lyrical masterpiece. I love you P.”

In the same post, Zuckerberg also shares videos and photos of his collaboration with T-Pain for writing the song and listening to it in the studio.
