Oasis, the reunion: the monetization of nostalgia

Liam Gallagher announces Oasis supporters on reunion tour?

Liam Gallagher through his profile X has teased fans of Oasis with a series of posts about the prospect of Richard Ashcroft, Blur and Manic Street Preachers supporting the band at their reunion concerts.

The 52-year-old singer and his brother Noel, 57, will kick off a tour of the UK, Ireland and the US in 2025 and, since the return was announced, there has been speculation about who they will recruit as a group shoulder.

Liam responded to X to fans’ questions about the musicians who will be lined up, stating that the Verve frontman’s involvement Richard Ashcroft it would be “biblical”.

In a series of other posts, responding to a fan who suggested the singer dei Blur Damon Albarn, 56, and his band to open for them, Liam said of former Britpop rivals Oasis: “I love Blur and we’ll have to do the oldies tour at some point.”

He then added: “Richard Ashcroft or the Manic Street Preachers as support” (at the next concerts), before adding shortly afterwards: “And Manic be it.” Although Ex Verve seemed to gather more support among fans.

Liam also said of Richard: “Just kidding, we never set sail without the one and only RICARDO, who’s our boy since DOT day.”. Richard has a long history with Oasis and his wild stories from the 90s were the inspiration for the 1995 song “Cast No Shadow”.

In the past Noel, speaking of Ashcroft, said as reported by the Select website: “I always thought he was born at the wrong time and in the wrong place, and he always tried to say the right things, but they came out badly.”

The Manic Street Preachers for their part have already supported (along with other bands Charlatans, Prodigy, Cast, Chemical Brothers and Kula Shaker) Oasis during the famous Knebworth concerts in 1996. The Blossoms have nominated themselves, in an interview with NME , as possible supporters of the band on their 2025 tour. Fantastic Negrito also offered himself as a supporter among the comments on Liam’s post.
