Lacuna Coil: “Gravity” from the new album “Sleepless empire”

While we’re just over a month away from the release of their next studio album, “Sleepless empire“, the first in over five years after the previous “Black soul” of 2019 (here is our review), Lacuna Coil have offered a new preview of the album.

To while away the wait for the album’s release, which is coming soonnext February 14ththe formation originally from Milan released the single “Gravity“, fifth extract from “Sleepless empire”. The single is accompanied by a video, available from 6pm (Italian time) on the official YouTube channel of the band led by Cristina Scabbia:

About “Gravity”, in a press note Lacuna Coil tell the story:

“It is not easy to maintain stability in such difficult times, we feel lost and even struggle to breathe as we cry out for help. How should we face these moments? We should seek help or rather isolate ourselves from the world to pick up the pieces in our gilded cage and misanthropic? We hope you like ‘Gravity’ as much as we do, but above all that it makes you think about the time you have available and how to make the most of it.”

As previously explained, the inspiration for the new album by Lacuna Coil is arrived during the recording sessions of “Comalies XX“, a revisitation of the 2002 album of the same name for the twentieth anniversary. Written and recorded between Milan, the band’s hometown, and Como, home of the SPVN studio, “Sleepless empire” was produced like the previous works by Marco “Maki” Coti Zelati and is accompanied by the cover by Roberto Toderico. The album also includes. collaborations with Randy Blythe of Lamb of Godpresent in the song entitled “Hosting the shadow”, e Ash Costello of New Years Day who added his contribution to “In the mean time”.

In the intentions of the group “Sleepless empire”, composed of 11 songs, is characterized by adark and cinematic setting. In this regard, Lacuna Coil announced:

“’Sleepless empire’ tells, through our eyes, the chaos of a generation trapped in a digital world that never stops, where social media destroy identity and push us, more and more every day, to transform into soulless zombies. We find ourselves in the middle, we have lived the analogue world and now we live the modern one, trying to understand the evolution and meaning of everything. In each song, the journey is a sign of rebellion, a desperate attempt to find oneself in an era that seems to have lost the sense of time and reality.”

The band’s lineup currently features, together with singer Cristina Scabbia and Andrea Ferro on vocals, Marco Coti Zelati (Bass, Guitar, Synth) and Richard Meiz (Drums).
