Another plagiarism accusation for Kanye West

Kanye: how much he earned with the new album in a week

Kanye West’s new album, “Vultures 1”, has generated revenues in excess of $1 million in the United States alone. All in the first week of release, between February 10th and 17th. This was revealed by Billboard, the “bible” of the music biz across the Channel.

The magazine estimates that “Vultures 1”, the result of the collaboration between the American rapper Ty Dolla $ign, presented with a “listening party” at the Assago Forum in Milan last Thursday (here is Rockol’s story), generated revenues equal to 892 thousand dollars thanks to streaming alone (it was played on the platforms 169 million times) and another 145 thousand dollars from sales. Money that Kanye West and Ty Dolla $ign will not have to share with any record label: yes, because the two released the album independently, with the label founded by Kanye himself, YZY.

West and Ty Dolla $ign will only have to give up a sum equal to approximately 5% of sales, to be allocated to the company that distributed the album on the platforms (Label Engine).

According to Billboard estimates, net earnings are equal to $986,000. And tonight, after Thursday’s show, the duo is expected at the Unipol Arena in Bologna, for the encore.
