Inter and Pink Floyd, from “Wish You Were Here” to “SoundSiro”

Inter has chosen Pink Floyd to accompany the wait for the return of the Champions League in Milan. A reel appeared on the club’s social media channels which tells the story of the match, uniting the imagination of the two teams with that of the English band, edited to the tune of “Wish You Were Here”, one of Pink Floyd’s most iconic songs, published in 1975 and recently re-released in an expanded version of the album for the 50th anniversary.
“Wish you were here, and now we are” we read in the description, while the final payoff is “SoundSiro”, a play on words between the name of the stadium and the music, which combines the title of the song with the feeling of belonging of the Nerazzurri fans.

The match between Inter and Arsenal, valid for the seventh day of the Champions League phase, will be played on Tuesday 20 January 2026 at San Siro. It is a challenge with a strong historical flavor: the two teams have faced each other several times in the past in European competitions. Inter hosted the Gunners last year too: the Nerazzurri won 1-0, while the first meeting dates back to the 2003/04 season, with a 3-0 victory in the first leg in London and a heavy 5-1 defeat at San Siro.

The choice of “Wish You Were Here” is not random: the song, a symbol of nostalgia and emotional connection, has become over the years one of Pink Floyd’s most universal songs, often associated with moments of waiting and reflection. In the clip released on social media – most likely created with artificial intelligence – you can see images linked to time (clocks), music (guitars and ), to the symbols of the teams and the band: a drum set with the Inter logo, a plectrum with that of Arsenal, and two fish in a bowl with the colors of the teams – a reference to the lyrics of the big song. We also see the cover of the Pink Floyd classic catching fire. “SoundSiro”, concludes the video: the band, however, has never played at the “Scala del Rock”.
