Gilberto Gil: A Tour to Say Farewell to the Stage
Fresh from performing at Lollapalooza in Sao Paulo, Brazil, last March, and with concerts already scheduled in Asia for next September, at just turned 82, Gilberto Gil has announced his definitive retirement from live performances.
As reported by the “Rio Times”, and reported by ANSA, the Brazilian musician and singer has announced that he will bid farewell to the stages with a final tour with dates scheduled between 2024 and 2025 in Brazil, the United States and Europe. One of the first scheduled events of the tour is the one already reported on the artist’s official website scheduled for November 9, 2024 at the Teatro Positivo in Curitiba, Paraná.
Despite his farewell to the stage, the artist has made it known that he will continue to write and record new songs, without stopping his long career that since the second half of the Sixties has seen him play a fundamental role in the transformation of Brazilian music through the Tropicalismo movement, together with his colleagues Caetano Veloso and Gal Costa.
