Dire Straits and Johnny Cash reinterpreted by Russell Crowe at Glastonbury
Last June 29, Russell Crowe was the protagonist of an acoustic set at Glastonbury 2024. On the now traditional “Acoustic Stage” of the historic British festival, the actor performed together with his band, the Indoor Garden Party, for a performance which included – among other things – covers of songs by Dire Straits and Johnny Cash.
At Worthy Farm, Crowe performed nine of his original songs live, some of which were taken from his band’s latest album, “Prose and cons.” The album also includes reinterpretations of songs by other artists, two of which were also performed live at Glastonbury, “Romeo & Juliet” by Dire Straits and “Psycho” by Amy Shark. The concert closed with a reinterpretation of Cash’s “Folsom Prison Blues.” A short video of Russell Crowe performing his “One good year” was shared online.
The Glastonbury set followed a few days after Crowe’s show at the Parco Archeologico del Colosseo, during which he – among other things – performed Ricchi e Poveri’s “Sarà perché ti amo”.
In Italy, where last February he was one of the musical guests at the Sanremo Festival, the actor has other concerts scheduled between July and August.
