Frank Sinatra, Scorsese working on a biopic with DiCaprio
According to Variety, Martin Scorsese is working on a biographical film about Frank Sinatra: the American filmmaker has already secured an exceptional cast, in which Leonardo Di Caprio will stand out in the title role and Jennifer Lawrence in the role of the famous man's second wife. crooner, Hollywood star Ava Gardner. Given the names involved, the project is attracting the attention of several investors: according to rumors gathered by the American newspaper, the winner of the title should be Sony Pictures, whose offer would have been judged better than that advanced by Apple, which had already invested 215 million dollars to make one of Scorsese's latest projects, “Killers of the Flower Moon” (again with DiCaprio).
The project, however, could be blocked for legal reasons: at the moment there is still no green light from Tina Sinatra, daughter of the late artist and his first wife, Nancy Barbato, and the sole owner of the image exploitation rights relating to the artist.
Scorsese has already worked on music as a director, directing – among others – “The Last Waltz” (1978) about the Band, “No Direction Home: Bob Dylan” (2005), “Shine a Light” (about the Rolling Stones, in 2008 ), “George Harrison: Living in the Material World” (2011) and “Rolling Thunder Revue: A Bob Dylan Story by Martin Scorsese” (2019).
