Farewell to the legendary ‘soul man’ Sam Moore

He died at the age of 89 Sam Mooremember together with Dave Prater of the legendary soul group Sam & Dave. According to Showbiz 411’s Roger Friedman, Moore passed away due to complications from a recent surgery.

Born in Miami (Florida) on October 12, 1935,
Sam Moore
he began singing in church and briefly considered pursuing a career in gospel music. He changed his mind after seeing it

in concert, then turned his attention to pop and soul. Encounter

at a talent show and together they started recording how

. In 1965, the duo signed a recording contract with Atlantic Records and were subsequently “loaned” to Stax Records, with which they released their greatest hits such as

“Hold On I’m Coming”
.

The duo broke up in 1970 and Moore embarked on a solo career. However, after the death in 1971 of its producer,

they reunited briefly in the late 1970s, but finally disbanded in 1982.

he died in 1988 in a car accident.

After overcoming a heroin addiction,

in 1992 he released his first solo album
“Plenty Good Lovin′”
. In 2006 his second and last solo album arrived
“Overnight Sensational”
which included among other collaborations those with
Bruce Springsteen, Sting
And
Bon Jovi
. In 2022 Moore duetted with Springsteen on two songs (
“Soul days”
And
“THE
forgot to be your lover”) from the Boss’ soul cover album
“Only the Strong Survive”
