Ennio Morricone’s unreleased song for the first time live
The only opera written by Ennio Morricone has remained unpublished for thirty years: the time has come to share it with the world. At the San Carlo Theater in Naples the burden and honor of hosting the premiere of “Partenope. Music for the mermaid of Naples“, which will be staged for the first time in the Neapolitan Massimo.
Thursday 11 December at 7.30 pm the general rehearsal open free to the public, as part of the program of celebrations of the 2500th anniversary of the foundation of Naples, with the artistic direction of Laura Valente. Then the two official performances on 12th (at 8pm) and 14th December (at 5.30pm).
“Partenope” represents a little-known but fundamental chapter in Morricone’s creative path: a chamber work that intertwines ancient and modern instruments and which brings the original myth of the city. The double Partenope of Jessica Pratt and Maria Agresta, together with Francesco Demuro (Melanio), Désirée Giove (Persephone) and the narrative voice of Mimmo Borrelli, is the protagonist of a story that unites past and present; directed by Vanessa Beecroft, who also takes care of the entire visual project with Daniela Ciancio (costumes) and Danilo Rubeca (choreography and directing collaboration), offers a contemporary reading of the founding history of Naples. Riccardo Frizza leads the Orchestra and Choir of the Lirico di Napoli, prepared by Fabrizio Cassi.
Entry to the general rehearsal on December 11th is free while places last. It is possible to collect up to two tickets per person by presenting an identity document at the ticket offices of the Teatro di San Carlo, from Tuesday 9th to Thursday 11th December (10.00am-6.00pm).
