According to Gene Simmons, Ace Frehley died of ‘bad choices’

Gene Simmons claims “poor lifestyle choices” played a role in late bandmate’s death, Ace Frehley. The guitarist and founding member of Kiss died at age 74 in Morristown, New Jersey, on October 16.

A statement released at the time revealed that Ace, also known as Spaceman, had died “peacefully, surrounded by family” following “a fall in his home.” An investigation into Frehley’s death was then launched and the results of a medical examination established that it was an accident.

Speaking to the New York Times, Simmons declared that they would be “bad decisions” to lead to the fatal fall, apparently suggesting that substance abuse may have played a role.

“He rejected (advice) from the people who cared for him – including myself – to try to change his lifestyle,” Simmons said. “He made bad decisions every time. Falling down the stairs – I’m not a doctor – doesn’t kill you. There may have been other problemsand that breaks my heart. The saddest thing is that unfortunately you reap what you sow.”

Although a toxicology report has not yet been released, Frehley said last year he had been sober for 18 years.
