Earth, Wind & Fire: A Documentary Directed by Questlove
The Roots’ historic drummer Ahmir “Questlove” Thompsonas director, announced with a post on his official social channels a film project dedicated to Earth, Wind & Fire. The musician, who in 2022 won the Oscar for best documentary thanks to “Summer of Soul”, has announced that he is working on a documentary For “tell the definitive story” of the musical group born in Chicago in 1969.
Introducing the project, which is scheduled for release in 2025, Questlove said that the feature film will tell “the story of how a band led by a genius from Chicago It changed our way of thinking, our minds and our hearts“.
The post then reads: “Having been immersed in the river of Afrocentric joy of this powerful unit, I have come to know them, I have come to know us, and most importantly, I learned to know and rediscover myself in the process. I am thrilled to direct a documentary that preserves their positive yet very vulnerable and real story of ‘Soul, Self & Struggle’. This It’s a story of joy, persistence, love, pain, magic and self-discovery.. These are Earth, Wind & Fire.”
According to “Variety”, the project are participating Verdine White, Philip Bailey and Ralph Johnson of Earth, Wind & Fire, who said: “We can’t wait to embark on this journey in-depth look at our band and we are very excited to have Questlove direct the documentary.”
