Diodato reinterprets Pink Floyd at the United Nations event

For his performance at the opening ceremony of “The Heroes of Tomorrow: UN SDG Action Awards 2025” on October 29, Diodato chose to interpret “Us and them” by Pink Floyd. With music composed by Richard Wright and lyrics written by Roger Waters, the song is the longest track from the historic 1973 album “The dark side of the moon”, and addresses the theme of division and human conflict with a reflective and universal tone. Reread in a version for voice and piano together with Roberto Di Blasi, the piece opened the ceremony, accompanied by images of the Turkish visual artist Uğur Gallenkuş.

On the sidelines of his performance for the evening, broadcast live from Rome and available on RaiPlay, the singer-songwriter shared a thought on what “music can be a bridge to action and change” and said, “This song is wonderful. Art in general, wonderful images can not only be a bridge towards others but also the way to share our humanity, to feel reality and to break down the walls between ‘us and them’”.

The passion for Pink Floyd it has been several times shared by Diodato which, among other things, in an interview for Rockol in 2020 he explained that “The dark side of the moon” is the album that changed his life.
