David Bowie's childhood home will be open to the public

David Bowie, his wife Iman’s tribute with a tattoo

“January 10th. The pain hasn’t gone away… it has left a permanent mark in its place, made of love“: this is the message that accompanies the video shared by Iman on the tenth anniversary of David Bowie’s death (here is the Rockol special). In the video, the supermodel and actress, widow of the great British musician, shows off a new tattoo inspired by the album “Blackstar” to commemorate ten years since her husband’s death.

Iman, married to Bowie from 1992 until his end, chose to immortalize in a new tattoo on forearm the graphics of the artist’s last album, released on January 8, 2016, just two days before his death. Specifically, inspired by the work conceived by the “Heroes” voice’s longtime collaborator, Jonathan Barnbrook, the tattoo consists of sequence of five minimalist black shapessimilar to runes, which appear at the bottom of the album cover and which, in an abstract way, spell out the word “Bowie”.

Bowie’s widow, who already in 2018 chose to remember the late artist by having his birth and death dates tattooed, also remembered him on the day of what would have been his 79th birthday sharing a black and white photoalong with the writing: “A million emotions, a thousand thoughts, a hundred memories… YOU! Happy heavenly birthday.”
