Foo Fighers, the tour that will pass through Italy begins: how it went
For the Foo Fighters, the new year of concerts it officially opened last January 10th in Mexico. Dave Grohl and company held theirs last Saturday first show of 2026 at the Velaria de la Feria in León. The evening also marked the band’s first live show with guitarist Jason Falknercalled to replace Pat Smear, out after a broken foot.
For their first concert of 2026, which inaugurates the tour “Take Cover 2026” which on July 5, 2026 will bring them back to Italy for a single date scheduled in Milan at the SNAI La Maura Hippodrome for the I-Days, the Foo Fighters have proposed a setlist full of their greatest hits and classics, along with a handful of less popular tunes. Invariably, as the group has now accustomed its audience, the opening was entrusted to “All my life”, demonstrated in the video below, to continue with “Times like these” and “The pretender”. According to what was reported on setlist.fm, the concert did not fail to offer pieces such as – among others – “These days“, on which the audience sang “Happy Birthday” to Dave Grohl who will turn 57 on January 14th.”My hero“, instead, was dedicated to Pat Smear. Con a setlist of 18 songs in totalthe closure came as expected with “Everlong”.
During the evening, the Foo Fighters also offered the public less frequent songs, dusting off – among other things – “Hey, Johnny Park!” from “The color and the shape”, and they played “Exhausted”, taken from their eponymous debut album.
The “Best of You” band, which last week informed fans that its longtime guitarist Pat Smear would have to miss some concerts due to a broken foot attributed to a “freak gardening accident”, have their next concert scheduled for January 14 at the Kia Forum in Los Angeles. At the moment it is not known when Smear will return to action on stages, but Italian fans have a good chance of seeing him again with the Foo Fighters when the tour arrives in Italy next summer. Dave Grohl and his associates have been missing from our country since 2018when they were protagonists on the stage of Firenze Rocks. Subsequently, the group was forced to cancel a series of tours, including Italian dates, first due to the pandemic and then due to the premature death of drummer Taylor Hawkins. Furthermore, in 2024, the Foo Fighters took a break from concerts after the news that Grohl had become the father of a child born out of wedlock.
