Cure: The “little announcements” on social media for the new album continue

Cure, farewell postponed: “We have another album ready”

“It’s all gone, it’s all gone / nothing left of all I loved”, “It’s all gone, it’s all gone / nothing remains of what I loved”, sings Robert Smith in “Endsong”, the song that closes the The Cure’s awaited new album, “Songs of a lost World”, will be released on November 1st. Words that could be interpreted as a farewell from the band, who hadn’t released an album of unreleased songs for sixteen years. But not even the time to send “Songs of a lost World” to the shops – here is Rockol’s preview review – before Robert Smith surprisingly reveals that the Cure already have another album ready.

Or almost. Speaking to Matt Everitt, popular BBC host and podcaster, the frontman of the British band said:.

After finishing this one, the second one is virtually finished too. The third one is a little more difficult because, well, if we get there… Talking about the third album, you know what I mean? I just can’t help myself.

Keyboardist Roger O’Donnell described “Songs of a lost World” as “the most intense, saddest, most dramatic and most emotional record” The Cure has ever made. “I can’t think we could do anything else afterwards,” Smith had said in recent years, as fans’ anticipation grew. Apparently, he eventually changed his mind.

Meanwhile, on November 1st, on the occasion of the release of “Songs of a lost World”, the Cure will perform their only concert scheduled for 2024. The band will perform at the Troxy in London with an event entitled “Show of a lost World”: Smith and his companions will play the new album in its entirety and the show will be live streamed, for free, on YouTube.
