Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young: Here’s an Unreleased Live Recording from 1969
On August 18, 1969, at 3:30 in the morning, Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young made their second performance as a quartet on the prestigious stage of Woodstock, a performance in which Stephen Stills he said, not surprisingly, “We’re scared to death.” The group then played a series of concerts that resulted in the live album recorded the following year, “Déjà Vu”. In that tour of concerts, on September 20, 1969, Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young played at the Fillmore East in New York. Now, the multitrack tapes of that live show are being released under the title “Live at FillmoreEast, 1969” next October 25th in CD and vinyl format.
The album marks the group’s fourth performance in the two days spent at the historic New York venue.
The concert included both acoustic and electric sets, with the drummer .DallasTaylor and the bass player Greg Reeves.

joined former bandmate Stills in
Buffalo Springfield
,
Neil Young
for a tour. Woodstock was their second concert as a quartet.
In the notes in the album
Neil Young
says: “For me, CSNY was an opportunity to reunite with Steve Stills and continue the Buffalo Springfield vibe. Crosby’s high energy has always been our catalyst. Graham and Stephen’s voices, along with David’s and my own, were inspiring every night. Great moments that I will never forget.”
Graham Nash
adds: “I remember the first shows at the Fillmore East with great fondness. Listening back to the music all these years later, I can tell how much we loved each other and the music we were making. We were so confident in what we were doing, and you can hear that on this recording.”
