Claudio Baglioni will sing the Italian anthem
The National Anthem performed on the occasion of the celebrations of the 78th Anniversary of the proclamation of the Republic, in the presence of the Head of State, will be interpreted by songwriter Claudio Baglioni, who for the occasion will be accompanied by Joint Defense Band.
The Republic Day celebrations, whose theme this year is “In Defense of the Republic, at the Service of the Country”, will take place on 2 June at the Imperial Fora.
CLAUDIO BAGLIONIin accepting the invitation declared:
Performing the National Anthem on June 2nd is a great honor and the gift of a sweet memory of me as a child and my carabiniere father who shakes me at dawn to run to see the military parade. And in the eyes of my heart, even if I didn't yet understand its meaning, the vision of a perfect world, of a radiant future wider than that sunny sky; the idea of an entire country of good people. It will also be a nice return to via dei Fori Imperiali, this time in the centre, after a concert for the FAO in 1996, the first with the Colosseum as a backdrop, and another, at the end of a world tour in 2010, with the 'Altar of the Fatherland. I hope very much, as a new Knight Grand Cross – thanks to the award from the President of the Republic Sergio Mattarella – to prove myself worthy and up to this task: to be the interpreter of the Canto degli Italiani, on Republic Day .
His interpretation of the Mameli Hymn will take place as part of the official celebrations taking place in via dei Fori Imperiali and will be broadcast live on Rai 1 and all Defense social channels
