Chico Buarque turns 80

Born on June 19, 1944 in Rio de Janeiro Chico Buarque de Hollandaone of the most important Brazilian singer-songwriters of all time.

Prominent exponent of Bossa Nova and Musica Popular Brasileira. He turns out to be very young in the mid-sixties, showing remarkable lyrical abilities. Protagonist of a particularly lively historical period, his political commitment against the dictatorship present in Brazil in those years led him to be arrested and imprisoned in 1968 and into exile the following year. Chico chooses Italy as his adopted country. In addition to the beauty of his songs, this is another reason why he is very popular in our country and is much loved by the musicians of our country.
