Vinicio Capossela and the Rolling Thunder Revue

Vinicio Capossela’s radio drama today at 5pm on Rai Radio 3

From today Monday 25th to Friday 29th May on Rai Radio 3, at approximately 5pm, “Sotto il bosco di latte” will be broadcast in five episodes, an opera with voices freely inspired by Dylan Thomas’ text “Under Milk Wood”, produced by La Cupa and Rai Radio3 and created by Vinicio Capossela starting from an idea by Renato Striglia.

The radio story can be listened to in full on 3 June at 8.30pm on the Radio 3 Suite program and will then be available for two months on Rai Play Sound.

The two main narrators are Vinicio Capossela and Paolo Rossi, and among the over 50 participating voices we note those of Ornella Vanoni, Alessandro Bergonzoni, Stefano Bollani, Ermanno Cavazzoni, Vincenzo Costantino Cinaski, Geppi Cucciari, Mauro Ermanno Giovanardi, Marisa Laurito, Bobo Rondelli, Lu Colombo, Nada, Roy Paci, Daniela Pes, Patty Pravo, Johnson Righeira and Sir Oliver Skardy.

In addition to the sounds of nature and concrete ones, there are instrumental fragments created starting from the composers mentioned in the text (Bach, Palestrina, Händel) and songs. In fact, the work is completed with four songs taken from the text (“Canzone di Polly”, “Ricordati di Rosie”, “Lilly in the mirror” and “Spazza il mio cielo”) and two nursery rhymes (“Bacia Gianna” and “Il secchio del latte”), all composed by Vinicio Capossela and arranged by Raffaele Tiseo.

In addition to these songs, there are extracts, evoked in the theme, of other songs soon to be published.

The songs are interpreted not only by Capossela, but also by Nada, Irene Sciacovelli and the Argentine artist Melingo.

Alberto De Grandis followed the entire recording, sound and editing phase with Capossela, and Alessandro “Asso” Stefana carried out the final mixing.

“This milk forest has become a sound forest, inhabited not only by voices, but by music, noises, songs and prayers. Under the milk forest was born as a work whose protagonist is the sound of words, and our intent was to give music, melodies and sound not only to the voices, but also to the characters” _ says Capossela.
