Bruce Springsteen: the Ivor Novello Award and a “best of” are coming
Bruce Springsteen will receive the Ivor Novello Award at a ceremony in London at the Grosvenor House on Thursday 23 May 2024.
The Ivor Novello Awards, named in memory of the artist Ivor Novello, is an award established in 1955, awarded by the composers and authors who are part of the Ivor Novello Academy and dedicated to composers and musical authors and is sponsored by Performing Right Society.
It consists of a bronze sculpture of Euterpe, the Greek muse of music. Among those awarded so far are Cliff Richard, Jeff Lynne, Iron Maiden, Freddie Mercury, Brian May, Pete Townshend, David Bowie, Martin Lee Gore, Kate Bush, Eric Clapton, Mark Knopfler, John Lennon, Annie Lennox, Paul McCartney, Bee Gees, Supertramp, Duran Duran, George Michael, Pet Shop Boys, Dave Stewart, Sting, Robbie Williams, David Gilmour, Oasis, Phil Collins, Amy Winehouse, Lisa Stansfield, Paolo Nutini, Gary Barlow, Adele, The Cure.
Sprimgsteen is the first international singer-songwriter that the Ivor Novello Awards Academy has honored in these first 80 years.
Bruce Springsteen commented:
“I am proud to be the first international singer-songwriter to be accepted into the Ivors Academy. In addition to recognizing my songwriting work, the award is a tribute to the fans and friends who have supported me and my work over the past 50 years.”

Singer-songwriters are powerful storytellers, who immortalize our lives, our loves and our difficulties. Bruce always told the greatest stories. His entry as a member is a certificate of esteem for what he has done by all those who have shared his work.”
To celebrate his nomination as a member of the Academy, the artist will release the album “The Best Of Bruce Springsteen” already available for pre-order in the following versions: CD with booklet, 2LP standard with black vinyl, 2LP limited edition Atlantic Blue (Discoteca Laziale exclusive), 2LP limited edition Highway, and 2LP limited edition Jersey Devil Red (exclusive Amazon).
Springsteen will return to Italy together with The E Street Band on 1 and 3 June 2024 at the San Siro Stadium in Milan. The Milan dates will be part of the “Bruce Springsteen and The E Street Band 2024 World Tour” world tour.
The Ivors Academy is the UK's independent professional association for those who create music. The Academy is known internationally for the Ivors and Ivors Classical Awards.
