“Boots on the Ground” the return of Massive Attack with Tom Waits

After six years i Massive Attack they’re back with new music. Specifically with the single “Boots on the Ground” which includes collaboration with Tom Waits. The song deals with the socio-political issues that torment America in this period. The song is accompanied by a video made by the same Massive Attack with photographs of thefinaleye who immortalized the protests of Black Lives Matter during the pandemic and the current ICE raids in the United States.

In a 12-inch vinyl edition, the B-side of
“Boots on the Ground”
will feature a spoken word piece by Waits entitled
“The Fly”
his first unreleased solo album in 15 years. The 76-year-old Waits said in a press release: “One day, many years ago, I accepted Massive Attack’s invitation to collaborate. At the time, we sent them ‘Boots on the Ground’. Their long delay in release has never bothered me. Today, as in all days passed by mankind, this guarantees that the song will never go out of fashion. The madness and failures of man are a feast for flies. Therefore, the B-side of Massive Attack’s next 12-inch, ‘The Fly’, expresses my appreciation for this annoying winged insect.”

Robert “3D” Del Naja
And
Grant “Daddy G” Marshal
of the
Massive Attack
instead they stated: “It is a career honor to collaborate with an artist of Tom’s scope, originality and integrity, this song arrives in a climate of chaos. Across the Western hemisphere, state authoritarianism and the militarization of police forces are once again merging with neo-fascist politics. Seen in the context of the American emergency, both at home and abroad, this song conveys impulses of ruthless indifference and the lost mind.”

Just a few days ago, on April 11th, Del Naja was arrested during a demonstration in support of the activist group Palestine Action.
