Beatles, the new documentary produced by Martin Scorsese is released
The release date for ” has been confirmedBeatles ’64“, the new documentary produced by Martin Scorsese and directed by David Tedeschi arriving next month on Disney+. The project, which according to the official description “captures the electrifying moment of The Beatles’ first visit to America” over 60 years ago, will be available on the streaming platform from Friday November 29.
The presentation, picked up by NME, also promises that “with unreleased footage of the band and the legions of young fans who helped fuel their explosion, the documentary offers uno singular look at when the Beatles became the most influential and beloved band of all time“.
Scorsese produced the documentary alongside Margaret Bodde, Paul McCartney, Ringo Starr, George Harrison’s widow Olivia Harrison, John Lennon’s son Sean Ono Lennon, Jonathan Clyde and Mikaela Beardsley. Jeff Jones and Rick Yorn are the executive producers.
Among the never-before-seen footage included in “Beatles ’64” are videos shot by documentarians Albert and David Maysles and restored in 4K, the live performances of the Beatles’ debut concert in the United States at the Washington Coliseum and their appearances atEd Sullivanthe latter were demixed by WingNut Films and remixed by Giles Martin.
“On February 7, 1964, the Beatles arrived in New York City amid unprecedented excitement and hysteria,” reads the synopsis: “From the moment they landed at Kennedy Airport, greeted by thousands of fans, Beatlemania swept New York and the whole country. Their thrilling debut on the Ed Sullivan Show captivated more than 73 million viewers, making it the most-watched television event of its time. ‘Beatles ’64’ features the show, but also reflects a more intimate behind-the-scenes story, capturing the camaraderie of John, Paul, George and Ringo as they experienced unimaginable fame”.
To coincide with the release of the documentary, it was announced for November 22nd the reissue on 180 gram vinyl of seven Beatles studio albums released in the United States: “Meet The Beatles!”, “The Beatles’ Second Album”, “A Hard Day’s Night (Original Motion Picture Soundtrack)”, “Something New”, “The Beatles’ Story” (2LP), “Beatles ’65” and “The Early Beatles”.
