Article 31 and Massimo Pericolo: “We come from the country”

J-Ax celebrated his birthday, 52 years old and very well worn, by publishing a new piece of the Article 31 in collaboration with Massimo Pericolo: it’s about “Blah(X5)”. The song thus becomes part of the album “Protomaranza”, which marked the return of the duo also composed of DJ Jadin the digital version. On the social media of the group and the rapper, the funny story that led to the decision to publish the piece is reconstructed: nothing decided at the table, no marketing strategy or repack, it was Massimo Pericolo who delivered the verses “late”or after the release of the album “Protomaranza”, not realizing its publication last May. The exchange of messages between Ax and Vane, reported on social media (you can see it here), bring a smile because it is extremely true and sincere.

The song is fun, even from a sound point of view thanks to DJ Jad’s Scratch, and tells of a world far from the dynamics of the city: Ax in the role of a “country boy” who truly loves country music, and Pericolo in the role of someone who really grew up among woods and lakes, they show a nice complicity on the track. And there is no shortage of corrosive bars, which mock and at the same time photograph pieces of life, following the styles of the authors themselves: “I don’t have iron in my pocket, nor the truth. I have an Opinel, two Tavors and four Platinum Cards, I see myself as old, but stylish, I see my glass half full and your stadium half empty. Malamilano gave me values, that’s why you never see us doing gangster poses,” raps Ax. “This is the big story of how I started rapping. Actually no, it’s not true, it’s the story of when I made stories of ganja and gremo. Actually no, that’s not true either, it’s also the story of an honest job and many other things that I’ve done for better or for worse over time”, Pericolo enters, recalling the beginning of the Italian theme song of “The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air”.

A universe on the edge of urban centersfull of outsiders, but at the same time inspirational and concrete, is what the protagonists have had and have to deal with. This imagery translates into a moment where voices cross in some ironic, funny and intelligent bars.: “The council house between the factories and the fields, the grandmother makes ragù with Bambi’s mother. We arrived with rap, but we come from country, where we process meat, but we don’t process traumai, Where the Articles remain at most as Danger”.
